This introduction to the key concepts and tools in reference and information services helps library staff become comfortable in the application of core reference principles and the use of print and electronic resources.
Libraries are at the center of information literacy. Though frequently used interchangeably, there is a distinct difference between media literacy and information literacy. Media literacy focuses on analyzing media content and the effect of media on society, while information literacy is the ability to identify, find, evaluate, and use information effectively.

This workshop will cover the basics of cataloging tools and techniques, including descriptive cataloging with the concepts in Resource Description and Access (RDA), subject cataloging (classification and subject headings), and Machine Readable Cataloging (MARC).
