According to a 2020 report from the U.S. Census Bureau, "there's been a rapid increase in the size of the 65-and-older population, which grew by over a third since 2010. No other age group saw such a fast increase." Older adults are often a driving force behind support and participation with the public library; as a result, librarians often design their programs and services with older adults in mind.
Library users want to feel loved and Patron Driven Acquisition (PDA) is the best kind of PDA in a library. We will look at the current role of this PDA in our library collections. This session will offer ways to celebrate and support patron requests.
Are unconscious biases impacting your hiring process? These biases can cause us to make decisions in favor of one person or group to the detriment of others. Are you open to exploring the potential for bias to appear in job descriptions, recruitment, screening candidates, interviewing, making an offer, and retention practices.
