  • Cataloging with RDA
    Through exercises and hands-on cataloging experiences, participants will receive a thorough grounding in RDA. This workshop will bring library catalogers the latest news on RDA and give you a thorough overview of the new content standard. Topics include FRBR review, RDA core elements for description, preferred titles and names, changes from AACR2, RDA toolkit functionality, and more!

  • EAD3: the Basics
    Need a solid introduction to Encoded Archival Description (EAD)? Look no further than our EAD3: the Basics course which will cover a variety of topics including:
    • Introduction to XML
    • History of EAD
    • Factors to consider when deciding to implement EAD at your institution
    • Relationships between EAD, The General Standard Archival Description (ISAD9(G)), and the principles stated in the Canadian-US Task Force on Archival Description (CUSTARD) project
    • The structure of an EAD document

  • EAD2HTML: Transforming Your Finding Aids with XSL
    This workshop, for archivists and technical staff, focuses on applying Extensible Stylesheet Language (XSL) to transform Encoded Archival Description (EAD-Version 3) finding aids into valid HTML5 files viewable on the web. XSL is a powerful tool for transforming XML documents into other formats. During the workshop, students will build a complete stylesheet for EAD and apply it to a supplied finding aid.

  • Know & Go: Linked Data and MARC21: Transition to BIBFRAME
    Catalogers and other library staff interested in the transition from MARC to BIBFRAME will learn how to prepare by adding linked-data URI's to their current MARC21 records. This Know & Go will review linked data concepts, distinguish between different types of URI's, and demonstrate adding URI's to MARC records.
