  • Cataloging & Classification Basics
    This course is designed to give you the practical, hands-on information needed to succeed in cataloging. The course will cover MARC bibliographic, classification and categorization schemas, basic copy cataloging, and other areas essential to the cataloging department. Hands-on exercises will provide practice learning your new skills and all examples and exercises will be based on OCLC-MARC, accessed through the Connexion cataloging interface.

  • Know & Go: Deciphering Music Preferred Titles
    This hour-long session will help catalogers better understand these access points and the RDA instructions for formulating them. Among the topics to be covered include: the purpose of preferred titles, distinctive and non-distinctive music titles, when and how to add medium of performance, and numeric designation for a musical work and key to preferred titles.
