Cataloging and Metadata Specialist -- Amigos Library Services -- Dallas, TX

Amigos Library Services seeks to fill the position of Cataloging and Metadata Specialist working across its Continuing Education Services (CES) team and other Amigos units. This position has the option to work from Amigos’ Addison / Dallas office, Ballwin / St. Louis office, or remotely. Position Overview
The Cataloging and Metadata Specialist is a shared position across the Continuing Education Services (CES) team and other Amigos units. The Specialist will focus half their work time developing and providing education and training to support libraries in the areas of cataloging, classification, and metadata standards, and half their work time supporting other Amigos units in their development of collaborative solutions for libraries, working to develop metadata standards for projects and working directly with libraries to implement those standards.

Amigos Library Services’ Strategic Plan to 2025 seeks to position the organization as member-led / member-centered; a valued partner; and focused on libraries and library staff. This shared position provides a unique opportunity to contribute to those goals as both a trainer and a practitioner in the areas of cataloging and metadata.

This position reports to the Manager of Continuing Education Services and to individual project managers as assigned for specific tasks.

  • 2-3 years’ experience in cataloging and metadata practice.

Education
Master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program or a master’s degree with experience working in libraries or with library professionals.

Salary and Benefits
