Interested in learning about cataloging? This session will cover the basics of cataloging tools and techniques, including descriptive cataloging with the concepts in Resource Description and Access (RDA), subject cataloging (classification and subject headings), and Machine Readable Cataloging (MARC). Attendees will leave this session feeling more informed about how to get library materials cataloged and into the hands of your patrons.
 

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the underlying principles of cataloging and classification and how they affect patrons' ability to find library resources
  • Identify cataloging standards and rules, including RDA and MARC21.
  • Identify useful cataloging resources
