Basic SQL
Structured Query Language, or SQL, queries and manipulates data held in relational databases. Many librarians go through mediated queries to find needed information, for example searching via a library catalog. With SQL, directly construct database queries without a mediated search interface’s constraint, such as field name or search limitations. Gain an introduction to the basics of SQL including terminology, design, working with databases, and working with the PHP scripting language.
Learning Objectives:
- Understanding the terminology and relational (linked) databases (tables)
- Designing a small database and writing SQL statements
- Demonstrating the ability to add/delete data from the database
- Understanding how PHP works with MySQL
Session Duration:
