An Introduction to Research Data Management for the Accidental Data Services Librarian

Have you recently been tasked with providing research data management services to your faculty and students but do not know where to start? Many grant funders and publishers are requiring authors and researchers to document how they will organize, share, and archive the data produced in their research, developing a research data management plan is quickly becoming an important part of the publishing process. In this workshop, attendees will learn how to create a research data management plan, develop strategies for providing data management services to your patrons, and identify collaboration opportunities with campus partners.
 

Learning objectives for this session include:

  • Understand the importance of data management plans for funding and research
  • Learn the basic best practices for the components of a data management plan
  • Discover resources and strategies that can assist librarians with providing data management services
  • Identify offices on campus that librarians can collaborate with to provide data management services
