Position Description:
UT Libraries Branch and Borrower Services supports the main library (PCL) as well as seven branch locations across campus. This Branch and Borrower Services position provides service point coverage for short-term vacancies and last-minute absences, support for UT Libraries campus delivery service, and administrative support for Branch and Borrower Services.

  • Oversee branch unit operations in the absence of branch staff. Assist with public service functions at branch library circulation desks, including assistance with reference questions.
  • Assist with campus retrieval and delivery of library materials.
  • Assist with PCL Course Materials processing and Borrower Services coverage as schedule allows.
  • Assist with other Branch and Borrower Services support activities which may include: maintaining the library hours web page; supervising the Branch and Borrower Services supply closet; and assisting with special projects at UTL branch locations.

Required Qualifications
Diploma (high school) or GED.
Two years of relevant customer service experience (retail, bookstore, service industry, delivery, etc.) or library experience.
Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with patrons from diverse populations, using diplomacy and discretion at all times.
Ability to effectively make decisions, manage workflows, and solve problems.
Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and willingness to put forth an extra effort getting tasks accomplished.
Demonstrated ability to be supervised and to be flexible with changing work assignments and environments.
Excellent communication (written and oral) and organizational skills; ability to maintain scheduled hours.
Commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all library users.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
More than 2 years of relevant experience.
Experience with Alma Library Service Platform.
Strong Microsoft Office skills including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Experience troubleshooting computer hardware/software.
Experience with opening/closing procedures.
Ability to work with limited supervision and as a member of a team.
Supervisory experience.
Experience multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
Supervisory experience and strong customer service skills.

Driving Required
This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.

Salary Range
$33,000 + depending on qualifications
