The Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) seeks someone to fill the role of Agency Property and Security Manager. The Property and Security Manager will perform routine to highly complex property management and security work for the agency.

The work will involve serving as the agency’s primary point of contact with the Texas Facilities Commission (TFC) to initiate, plan, coordinate and track building maintenance, repair, and custodial assistance requests, remodeling or constructions projects for the Lorenzo de Zavala building, State Records Center, Sam Houston Center and a new facility to be constructed. This position will also serve as the agency’s Security Coordinator, and back up other positions in the agency’s Support Services areas. Works closely with and assists the Chief Fiscal Officer in overseeing all facility and security related activities, including preparation and submission of reports and managing construction projects.

Property and Security Manager I: Salary range: $4,067 - $4,229

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business administration or a related field. Experience can substitute for degree on a year for year basis.
  • One year experience in commercial or residential property management work.
  • Experience using a computer and applicable spreadsheet and/or database software.
    Property and Security Manager II: Salary range: $4,624 - $4,842
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business administration or a related field. Experience can substitute for degree on a year for year basis.
  • Three years’ experience in commercial or residential property management work.
  • One year experience using a computer and applicable spreadsheets and/or databases software.
  • Experience in preparing periodic reports on the status of various facility/property maintenance projects.

Property and Security Manager III: Salary range: $5,262 - $5,544

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business administration or related field. Experience can substitute for degree on a year for year basis.
  • Four years’ experience in commercial or residential property management work.
  • Experience using automated reporting system or tracking system for preparing reports, managing vendors, and monitoring facility maintenance and/or construction-related projects for a governmental entity.

While we seek someone with property and construction management experience according to the minimum requirements, we are willing to train a less seasoned employee and offer a career path with promotional opportunities once specific milestones are met.

Our ideal candidate will also have experience with the following:

  • Relevant property management experience with a state agency or local government entity.
  • Experience managing complex construction projects
  • Experience performing functions as a security coordinator.
  • Experience using project management software.
  • Experience developing and preparing property and project-related documents.
  • Lifting and moving boxes, packages, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Safely operating a 1/2-ton delivery vehicle.
