Amigos Library Services Invites Nominations for Board of Directors

The Amigos Nominating Committee is accepting nominations from individuals interested in serving on the Amigos Board of Directors. The 2025 election ballot, to be sent to members in April, will include candidates for four positions on the board – three board of directors positions for representatives from member institutions and one board of directors position for an independent representative.

As articulated in the Board’s values statement, the Board of Directors is committed to recruiting members from diverse backgrounds with a broad range of qualifications, skills, experiences, perspectives, and the myriad human identities essential to advancing the work of Amigos Library Services. Board service is supported by Amigos, with all travel and related expenses paid by Amigos Library Services.

Individuals seeking the board positions from member institutions must be registered as the voting representative for their library’s membership with Amigos prior to the opening of the election.

Each position serves three years on the board (terms expiring June 2028). The expected time requirement for Directors may be up to two hours per week. Directors receive financial reports monthly, programmatic reports quarterly, and may receive occasional special reports and updates. Board meetings and events may require up to six days' travel each year. Directors are expected to participate in a New Directors Orientation Session, five Board meetings each year, and the Amigos Business Meeting. One or more meetings may be virtual. Board members may participate on board committees and engage with other Directors through email, virtual, and in-person discussion.

Voting is scheduled for Monday April 14 to Friday April 25, 2025. Results of the election will be announced during the May 14, 2025, annual Amigos Member Business Meeting.
