Job Summary:
The Library Specialist for Late Night Guest Services provides leadership for extraordinary customer service experiences within a dynamic, high-volume environment by assisting with late-night operations, including student employee supervision, direct customer service and general services for the Guest Services division of the Community Engagement department within UTA Libraries. UTA Libraries has various locations across campus. This position will be eligible for the full differential pay.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Engages in a team-based leadership model to manage circulation processes and the Libraries’ general service areas which include the first floor, second floor, West Campus Library and Science and Engineering Library.
- Serves on a team of service point managers, providing coaching, mentoring, supervision and training for service experience student employees.
- Highlights and connects students, faculty, and staff with Libraries’ services, resources, and partnerships that meet their needs.
- Actively participates on Libraries and University committees and teams, and performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High School graduation or GED.
- Two (2) years customer service experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- One (1) year of experience working in an academic library or related environment.
- One (1) year of experience of supervision, leadership, and/or mentoring.
- Preference for working non-traditional hours.
- Comfort and experience with creative and emerging technologies and learning how to use, and teach others how to use, them.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work collegially and collaboratively with people of different backgrounds in a team-based environment.
- Professional organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Ability to analyze situations and make sound decisions.
- Ability to adapt to and accommodate for varied departmental priorities, events, and activities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive/SharePoint, and other common office software.
Work Schedule: Wednesday – Sunday
- Wednesday – Friday hours are 6:15 pm – 2:15 am
- Saturday & Sunday hours are 4:15 pm – 12:15 am
- This position is responsible for closing shifts during these current hours.
- Hours are subject to change depending on spring break, summer, intersessions, 24/7 week before finals, etc., and the team itself does shift sometimes due to staff needs, etc.
