Librarian I (Electronic Resources) - Texas Christian University- Fort Worth, TX
Job Summary:
The Librarian I (Electronic Resources) is responsible for facilitating and managing the acquisition of electronic and subscription resources for the TCU library by coordinating the flow of materials to make them accessible to the TCU community.
Required Education & Experience:
- Masters of Library Science (ALA accredited).
- 0 - 1 year experience in a library environment.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- 1-2 years’ professional experience
- Experience with electronic resource management, including databases, e-journals, e-books, and streaming media platforms.
Duties & Essential Job Functions:
- Acquires and maintains print, electronic, subscriptions by working with vendors and publishers to ensure subscriptions are current and all issues are received and accessible to patrons.
- Resolves subscription problems with publishers, vendors, or consortia by monitoring serials check-in, subscriptions, and licensing agreements.
- Assists with the maintenance and reconciliation of serials budgets by providing relevant statistical reports and attending budget meetings as needed with Acquisitions, Reference, and Administrative staff.
- Maintains working knowledge of basic acquisitions functions as well as monographic standing orders by coordinating workflows with the Acquisitions Department.
- Helps library patron’s access materials by monitoring periodical accessibility to patrons and providing patron assistance within the Periodicals Department or at other relevant help desks.
- Maintains communication within the library by attending meetings for various committees, task forces and other groups and writing reports as appropriate.
- Liaise with reference department on e-resources, serials, article processing charges, renewals/cancellations and assessment.
- Manage e-resource trials and new subscription setup with vendors.
- Liaise with Medical Electronic Resources Librarian on relevant subscriptions, statistics and licensing with joint purchases.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of serials management with a focus on primarily electronic subscriptions.
- Knowledge of manual and SUSHI harvesting of serial usage data.
- Knowledge of open access and transformative agreements.
- Knowledge of major serials vendors.
- Knowledge of Alma and Alma Analytics or similar Library Automated Systems.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
- Knowledge of research techniques.
- Ability to organize and maintain a large serials collection.
- Ability to review and make recommendations to improve and streamline processes.
- Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing.
