Artifex Press, a publisher of digital catalogue raisonnés, has developed a proprietary, patented software platform and a dedicated research and publishing program to produce, edit, and distribute catalogue raisonnés of contemporary artists. The catalogue raisonnés are the definitive, comprehensive, and annotated compilation of all the known works of an artist and are continually updated to provide new content.
Some of the current publications include:
- Chuck Close: Paintings, 1967 – Present
- Jim Dine: Sculpture, 1983 – Present
- Tim Hawkinson
- Agnes Martin: Paintings
- James Siena
Current publications compile over 3,740 artworks illustrated within more than 13,200 images and illustrations both archival, newly commissioned, and never published. As a resource for source materials, each catalogue has exclusive documentary materials – audio and video files, interviews, facsimile reproduced manuscripts and artists commentary that cannot be found in any other publications.
A subscription provides access to all published content and any new content published during the term of your subscription.
Artifex Press has been acquired by donation to the newly formed Cahiers d’Art Institute (“CDAI”), a 501c3, U.S. nonprofit organization founded by the French art publisher Cahiers d’Art, known for its historical, multivolume catalogue raisonné of Picasso as well as newly published catalogues raisonnés of Ellsworth Kelly and Frank Gehry and its famed journal, La Revue. Cahiers d’Art Institute will build upon the work that Artifex Press had done. CDAI will focus its efforts on the publication of catalogues raisonnés of leading 20th and 21st century artists, both digitally and in book form, including continuing to publish and update Artifex Press’s existing catalogues raisonnés.
This transition will not affect your subscription; however, Artifex Press will soon cease its activities under its existing name, and our site will move to cahiersdartinstitute.org.
