Trans-Amigos Express Guidelines - Packaging, Labels, Bags, and Requirements
Labels
All packages should be labeled with a unique QR-coded label printed from the Amigos Trans-Amigos-Express label maker. Please ensure packages are properly labeled and labels are clearly visible on the courier bags.
Label Maker
Labels for shipping items to TAE/Texpress libraries can be printed out of the Trans-Amigos Express Label Maker. Labels for items being shipped to libraries, participating in Kansas Libraries Express, Mid-America Library Alliance, MOBIUS, and TAE/TExpress locations can also be printed from the Trans-Amigos Express Label Maker.
Courier Bags
TAE provides branded courier bags to participating member libraries. Additional bags can be requested through the supply request form. If necessary, labels can be secured in courier bag pockets with a piece of scotch tape. Bags can also be closed using a zip tie threaded through the bag zipper pull tie and the round grommet in the bag.
Other types of packaging
Padded manilla envelopes or cardboard boxes can be used to ship courier items. Any package should have a label taped to the exterior and should have all other shipping labels or branding removed and marked over.
Number and weight of packages
TAE is a closed system, meaning that deliveries are made to participating locations ONLY and participating partner libraries. Libraries are not limited by the number or cumulative weight of packages. There is a limit of 50 pounds for any one package.
If you have a sizably larger than normal shipment to make at one time, please contact TAE at tae@amigos.org to make arrangements with the courier prior to pick-up. So that the courier can make arrangements prior to pick-up.
Pickup and Delivery Information
Depending on the level of participation, pickup and delivery take place five days per week (Mon-Fri), three days per week (Mon/Wed/Fri), or two days per week (Tue/Thu). The courier automatically visits your site on those designated days. You do not have to call when you have items ready to ship. Designate an area for the courier driver.

- Provide an easily accessible area for the TAE exchange point. Per our written agreement with the courier, controlled and/or locked areas cannot be designated as exchange points so that drivers do not have to wait to gain entry.
- Provide a basket or box suitably sized container identified as "Trans-Amigos Express." Don't use a USPS-owned plastic tub for courier items.
- Ensure that the distinctive TAE label is clearly visible and completely and properly filled out on every outbound piece.
