MUSE Subscribe to Open (S2O) Program
In addition to the fully open access journals and thousands of open access books already hosted on the platform, Project MUSE is preparing an S2O program built around their current journal collections model, to launch with the calendar year 2025 subscription term. With more than 800 current journals in the humanities and social sciences on its platform from close to 200 nonprofit publishers, MUSE is uniquely positioned to develop and deploy an S2O program at scale for a significant number of its journals. Through the support of MUSE’s vast community of publishers and libraries worldwide, the S2O program will open a wealth of vital scholarship in disciplines not well served by other open access (OA) models.

To participate, libraries will simply continue subscribing to the MUSE journals collections. Upon reaching a targeted threshold, the current year of a selection of journals in the collections will publish fully open access. Aside from their modest annual price increases, there will be no additional cost to the library. The same purchasing channels, business policies, and licensing terms will apply.

Curated Journal Collections
Five new titles will join the Premium Collection for 2025: Early Medieval China, Historical Studies in the Natural Sciences, Literary Imagination, National Review of Black Politics, and Phoenix. Selected titles have also been added to the Standard, Basic Research, Basic College, Humanities, and Social Sciences collections for 2025. See Collection Updates page for full details.

Project MUSE continues to offer a variety of journal collection options to suit the needs of many kinds of libraries. See Collection Descriptions and further details, including a downloadable chart comparing the titles available in each collection. Amigos representatives are available to assist subscribing libraries with a usage analysis to ensure they are subscribing to the MUSE collection that best fits their needs and budget.

PLUS+ Journals Package
The MUSE PLUS+ Package is a bundle of non-collection journals that provides access to nearly all the journals that are part of their journal hosting program for publishers. While MUSE cannot add all qualified journals to their Journal Collections, they offer publishers the opportunity to host their titles on MUSE and experience all the benefits of discovery that MUSE offers.

PLUS+ Package can be purchased on its own, but it also provides additional depth and breadth of core subject coverage when combined with the Premium Collection or any one of MUSE's large interdisciplinary, curated Journal Collections.

The PLUS+ Package, otherwise, offers the same calendar year subscriptions, application of the same license and same consortium discount, and the same subject areas and caliber of high-quality scholarly content. In fact, the name was changed to demonstrate that this product can be purchased on its own, but it also provides additional depth and breadth of core subject coverage when combined with any one of MUSE's large interdisciplinary, curated Journal Collections—not just the Premium Collection.
