Texas Southern University Library Learning Center seeks a Technology Librarian to join our team. This position provides technical expertise and serves a key role in implementing and managing all the library’s systems and technologies. This role is critical to maintaining discovery and access to the growing electronic holdings of the library. The Technology Librarian will also assist and train library staff on library Information Systems & Technology Services and serve as a liaison to the university’s Office of Information Technology (OIT).

Job Requirements:

  • Lead administrator and problem solver for the library management system (OCLC WorldShare Management Services – WMS), the discovery layer (EBSCO Discovery Service – EDS), and WorldShare Discovery.
  • Manage and support other critical library services, including EZ Proxy, Digital Commons Digital Repository, Research Information System (PURE), Springshare LibApps suite, and Bibliotheca self-service checkout machine & security gate system.
  • Design, maintain, and troubleshoot the library’s website.
  • Serve as a liaison to and collaborate with OIT and other campus technology partners and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with library staff & OIT to troubleshoot & improve technology-based services.
  • Serve as the lead contact with library systems and technology vendors.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to keep up with trends in library systems, emerging technologies, digital tools, and software solutions.
  • Research, evaluate, recommend, test, and implement new technologies in collaboration with library staff.
  • Provide training and technical support to library staff.
  • Serve as liaison to assigned academic departments for research and instruction support.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of:

  • Metadata and cataloging format (e.g. MARC).
  • Springshare LibApps suite.
  • Basic website management systems.
  • Digital tools and resources.
  • Developing trends in library technology and systems.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in library and information science from an ALA-accredited program.
  • Two (2) years of work experience in an academic library with library systems experience.
