Course Description

Most library patrons already navigate multiple communication channels and field dozens of attention-seeking messages per day. This makes the idea of a library newsletter more daunting and important. To help make a more effective newsletter, explore new ways to communicate with patrons through platforms they already use or are familiar with. Learn how to communicate library successes with storytelling tools and encourage users to contribute their own insights to your library's story. Whether small libraries creating their own content or established libraries looking for new ways to connect with their audience, this guidance will help raise reach and readership.

Learning objectives for this session include
  • Become familiar with different writing platforms
  • Learn best practices for communicating library successes
  • Establish a timeline for drafting, creating, and sending your content
  • Identify strategies for engaging library users as content contributors
