Session Title: Breakthroughs and Learning Curves in Managing a Floating Collection
Session Description: Johnson County Library's floating collection started in 2010. The last 12 years have been a wild ride of ups and downs as we figured out the system and created a process that not only increased circulation but created a better browsing experience for our patrons, in each of our 14 branches. Come and listen to our breakthroughs and learning curves as we created our self-sufficient, easily managed system.
Speaker Bio: Lacie Griffin is the Collection Development and ILL Manager for Johnson County Library (JCL) in Overland Park, Kansas. Lacie has over 20 years of library experience and is currently part of JCL's Materials Handling Team, which manages a collection of over million items and its movement between 14 branches.
Speaker Bio: Michelle Olsen is the Circulation Services Manager for the Johnson County Library in Overland Park, Kansas. Michelle has been a part of the library's Circulation Services Department since the Fall of 2011 and part of JCL’s Materials Handling Management Team since 2018.

Session Title: Beyond the Usual Suspects: Choosing a New Inventory Control System
Session Description: In September 2016 University of Oklahoma Libraries opened the Library Service Center (LSC), an off campus facility designed as both high-density storage and a new home for several library departments. The LSC was designed to use the Harvard Model, shelving items by size rather than classification, and to hold 500,000 low-use items. After viewing a few inventory control systems in action, we decided to look beyond the companies that had provided products specifically for libraries. Products we saw at other facilities were dated; we needed something that would operate similarly to the software products student workers were familiar with and less like MS-DOS. We turned to records management companies, seeking out products used in the finance, insurance, healthcare, and legal industries. This session will cover how we chose Zasio's Versatile Professional as our inventory control system and the processes and procedures we use to transfer materials to the LSC.
Speaker Bio: Jenny Watson is the Head of Storage and Delivery at the University of Oklahoma. She and her team of 6 staff along with a lot of student workers handle off-site storage, stacks management, and interlibrary loan.

Keynote Session Title: Infiltrating our Community: Deposit Collections for our Youngest to Oldest Patrons
Session Description: Every month for over 16 years, Ames Public Library (APL) has delivered library materials to over 140 childcare centers, in-home daycares, home-bound individuals and nursing homes. To maintain service that many years, APL has explored numerous avenues for distribution of materials. This session will explore best practices in utilizing volunteers, city resources like GIS mapping, and all the do's and don'ts of dropping off and collecting materials all over town.
Speaker Bio: Bri has worked for the Ames Public Library for twelve years and has focused on supporting early literacy initiatives, programming and support for area homeschool families. She was most recently the administrator for the library's Project Smyles outreach program for area daycares and preschools until her promotion to Youth Services Manager in late 2021. Outside the library she spends as much time with her three young children and amazing husband as she can, quilts, and loves that there’s always something new to explore in central Iowa.

Session Title: Onsite Robotic Storage: Ten Years Later
Session Description: In June of 2010 the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) Libraries' Automated Storage and Retrieval System went online, and we started loading the bulk of our collections into the onsite compact storage solution. Since then we have experienced significant change and learned many lessons regarding onsite storage that would apply to any system, as well as some that are specific to this kind of technology. Join this session to learn about some of our initial planning and assumptions proven correct (and not), how it changed our service model, and what we would do different if we were planning this project today.
Speaker Bio: Cindy is the Dean of Libraries at the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s University Libraries. She began at UMKC in 2006 as the Interlibrary Loan Librarian and took on increasing responsibilities in a variety of library areas until she attained her current position. At the UMKC Libraries Cindy has been engaged in a number of significant initiatives, including multiple reorganizations, major renovation, and active work on revising internal systems to support equity. A long-time Kansas City resident, Cindy received her PhD from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, her MA from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and her BA from William Jewell College. Her research interests lie with organizational structure and strategic change management, and she is past-President of the Missouri Library Association and chair of the UMKC Institutional Review Board.
Speaker Bio: Mary has worked in academic libraries since she was a student assistant in the late 1980s. She loves assisting college students, giving library robot tours to high school STEM groups, and helping patrons solve problems. She has served as the Head of Circulation Services at the UMKC Libraries since October 1998.

Session Title: DIY Physical Collection Relocation: Considerations for Moving to Offsite Storage
Session Description: Academic libraries have become more inviting locations for collaboration, social networking, expanding services such as makerspaces and serve as places for study. In this changing environment, space management may become an issue. Traditional book ranges take up extraordinary amounts of footage and as electronic resources and shared library resources (such as Interlibrary Loan) become more prevalent, the need for patrons to browse collections becomes less important in a college or university setting. Adding new buildings or increasing building size to accommodate growth of a library may not be feasible or may be cost prohibitive. One solution is to utilize an offsite storage facility with compact shelving that dramatically reduces the footprint required to house physical collections. When and how to accomplish the move of an entire collection can be a daunting task. This session will review how Kimbel Library accomplished just such a move of their collection from the main library to an offsite facility in preparation for a major facility renovation, and how we collected and utilized data to support the move.

Current responsibilities include the hiring and scheduling of library student assistants. William has a B.A. in Sociology from Coastal Carolina College (now Coastal Carolina University).

Session Title: Balancing your Delivery Service: From Crisis to Stability
Session Description: Many libraries developed ways to bring much-needed items to patrons during the COVID-19 pandemic by creating a Home Delivery service / program. As we close the second year of this crisis and focus on getting to a "new normal," these programs face an uncertain future: libraries must decide whether or not to keep them in place and how their future will appear. Which raises the question: How do you transition a program fulfilling a trauma-based need to one that can serve anyone, anytime (or thereabouts)?
The Meridian Library District created our Home Delivery Service in 2020 to fulfill patrons' requests for a contactless delivery service, and then decided to continue offering the service outside of high transmission levels. In this session, we will discuss and provide resources on how we transitioned our service to be a fully functioning operation, and how you can begin preparing your service for a future of continued use and appreciation.
Speaker Bio: Bri DeMaree (they/them) is the Materials Distribution Coordinator at the Meridian Library District. They explore delivery service models and considers Home Delivery services to be an important and relevant area in libraries. Session Title: Two Men and a Truck: Moving a Million Books
Session Description: A program of the Georgia Public Library Service, PINES (Public Information Network for Electronic Services) is the automation and lending network for 51 regional library systems made up of nearly 300 branches and service locations in 146 counties. PINES creates a statewide "borderless library" that provides equal access to information for all Georgians. With access to materials beyond what is available on their local shelves, PINES patrons enjoy the benefits of a shared collection of over ten million books and other materials that can be delivered to their home library free of charge. To best meet users’ needs, PINES continues to adapt and fine-tune its services, including efficiently modifying services during pandemic shutdowns and expanding sharing options to include AV materials. This session will provide participants with a behind-the-scenes look into the unique challenges and solutions of consortial resource sharing and delivery on a large scale during times of rapid change.

Session Title: A Post-COVID Vision for Courier
Session Description: Fast, reliable, and trustworthy courier is core to the service that MOBIUS provides to its 76 member libraries. Just six months after negotiating a new courier contract with a new carrier, most of those libraries closed for a period of a few months or longer. This talk will share the MOBIUS experience with courier during COVID, the challenges of re-launching courier in uncertain times, and thoughts on lessons learned that might lead to a new vision for courier going forward.
Speaker Bio: Steve is the primary contact regarding all functional Integrated Library System (ILS) related matters at MOBIUS where he manages their ever-expanding courier system network and takes a leadership role in the implementation and training of new and existing members. Steve worked in a variety of special and and academic libraries before spending over a decade with Innovative Interfaces where he worked with libraries of all sizes, types, and many of the largest consortia and multi-type consortia across North America. He is a graduate of both Saint Louis University and the University of Missouri-Columbia with a Masters of Arts in Library & Information Science. Steve is a Missouri native and enjoys traveling, historical biographies, and spending time with his family.
