Join Amanda Sprochi, a cataloger of all things rare, digital, and print at the University of Missouri in Columbia and a self-described data janitor, for this five-part course designed for staff new to cataloging or those needing a refresher. This course prepares participants to begin copy cataloging by demonstrating how to interpret bibliographic records and match them to items in hand. Live instruction with hands-on exercises provides ample practice using new skills and an extensive resource list provides access to ongoing reading and reference materials. Amanda teaches cataloging courses at the Mizzou School of Information Science & Learning Technologies. She was recently honored with a 2024 CORE Presidential Citation for her work as chair of ALA's Committee on Cataloging: Description and Access.
