Teaching and presenting are good opportunities to create a positive impression for the organization, but limited training and experience can make library staff feel unprepared to make the most of these situations. Having a basic understanding of how to approach library instruction or presenting at a conference is beneficial to both staff and their organizations. This session focuses on building a strong foundation of teaching and presentation skills for library workers new to the subject or those in need of a refresher. Topics include effective public speaking techniques, creating engaging presentations, and tailoring your content to specific audiences and circumstances.

Naomi Gonzales is the Library Services Trainer & MOLIB2GO Coordinator at Amigos. She has over ten years of library experience in academic and medical libraries, and most recently served as a federal contractor in support of The National Library of Medicine’s MedlinePlus consumer health website. Her professional interests include web accessibility, usability, and community outreach. In her personal life, Naomi enjoys befriending stray cats, volunteering at her local farmer’s market, and playing cozy video games.
