Job Description
The University of Tulsa McFarlin Library seeks a dynamic and innovative Graduate Studies Librarian to join our team. This position is dedicated to supporting the research and academic success of graduate students and faculty across all disciplines. The Graduate Studies Librarian will provide advanced research assistance, develop specialized collections, deliver instructional services, and foster scholarly communication within the graduate community.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities):

Required Qualifications: 

  • A Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS or MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program.
  • Experience in academic libraries, particularly in roles related to reference, instruction, or subject liaison work.
  • Strong research and information literacy skills. Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with scholarly communication and academic publishing.
  • Experience working with graduate students or in a higher education setting.

Preferred Qualifications: None Physical Demands 

  • Must be able to lift 10-15 lbs. of materials.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and lift library materials above your head.
  • Must be able to push heavy book trucks and shelve books in a repetitive motion.
  • Position will require long periods of standing or sitting, depending on the task.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends.
