Unpacking the ALA Committee on Diversity DEI Scorecard
The Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Scorecard was created by members of the ALA Committee on Diversity and is an evaluative tool that centers accountability and transparency in determining organizational effectiveness within the recruitment, hiring, retention, and promotion of people of color. While progress has been made in the areas of collection development and patron support the focus is often omitted in the application of diversification beyond frontline staff. This 2-part workshop is constructed to understand how to implement the Scorecard to gain the support necessary to transform your organization. The workshop provides a solid understanding of the DEI Scorecard, ways to evaluate your current efforts, and ways to edit the Scorecard to better support the team and organization.
Learning objectives for this session include:
- Developing hands-on skills for immediate application of one measure for implementation
- Understanding the workings and foundation of the Scorecard
