Live Online Preservation Training Available in September and October
Don’t miss Preserving Your Historical Records. The live online workshop focusing on physical preservation is scheduled for September 19 and 21 from 1-3 p.m. CDT. Learn the basics of proper care and storage of archives and manuscript collections. Topics include:
- causes of deterioration
- selection of folders, boxes, and other housing materials
- processing of archives
- storage for oversized materials, maps, and photographs
- proper handling and exhibition practices
- basic paper repair techniques
- and much more!
After you’ve taken Preserving Your Historical Records, why not try Preservation of Photographic Materials? It will be offered on October 23 and 25 from 1-3 p.m. CDT. Topics include:
- care and handling of photographic material
- photograph composition
- history and identification of cased materials, negatives & prints
- color of materials
- photographic deterioration
- special issues regarding storage
- preservation of photo albums and scrapbooks
