OCLC recently presented Transformation of the Academic Library as part of its OCLC Research Distinguished Seminar Series. Kurt De Belder, University Librarian at Leiden University, Director of Leiden University Libraries, and with Leiden University Press, discussed the fundamental transformation of the academic (research/university) library and the necessary changes that need to occur for the library to remain an effective and relevant partner in research and teaching. The OCLC Research Distinguished Seminar Series was established in 1978 to encourage the exchange of ideas across the barriers of time, space, and disciplines.
