Board Elections Highlight Amigos Member Meeting

Elections to the Amigos Board of Directors highlighted the 55th Amigos Membership Meeting held May 15 in conjunction with the annual Amigos Member Conference. Board members along with Amigos President and Chief Executive Officer Bonnie Juergens participated in the online meeting from the Amigos offices in Dallas.

Amigos Chair Jennifer Goodson, Fort Smith (AR) Public Library, called the meeting to order. An announcement of the candidates for election was followed by a vote of the membership. A number of votes had been cast in advance of the meeting by directed proxy ballots submitted by designated voting representatives of Amigos member institutions. Those who did not vote via the directed proxy ballots cast their votes online at the meeting.

Following the election, Goodson delivered her Report to Members, recapping the work of various committees and task forces the previous year. In closing, she acknowledged four outgoing directors who were completing their board terms: Charlie Kalogeros-Chattan, Los Alamos County (NM) Library System; Art Lichtenstein, University of Central Arkansas; Bill Parton, Arkansas Tech University; and Independent Director Patrick Heath, Boerne, TX. Vice Chair Oliver Delaney, Independent Director, Oklahoma City, then recognized Goodson on behalf of the membership for her service as Chair during the preceding year.

Goodson was followed by Treasurer Art Lichtenstein, University of Central Arkansas, Conway, and Amigos Chief Financial Officer Charles Cason, who delivered the treasurer's report, and Juergens, who presented her CEO's report. Goodson then announced the recipients of the 2013 Amigos Fellowship and Opportunity Award. The meeting concluded with the announcement of the board election results. QP
