Amigos Board Approves Member Benefits at November Meeting

At its November 22, 2013, meeting in Dallas, the Amigos Board of Directors approved the addition of two new benefits to be offered free of charge to Amigos Members.

To encourage participation in the new Resource Description and Access (RDA) cataloging standard, Amigos is now providing members free site license subscriptions to the electronic RDA Toolkit.

To expand member access to learning opportunities, attendance at all Amigos live online conferences is available at no cost for individuals from member institutions.

Both benefits became effective immediately following Board approval. For more details about these new member benefits, see "Viewpoint from the Chair" in this issue of ¿Que Pasa?.

In his Chair's report, Amigos Chair Oliver Delaney welcomed Independent Director Gretchen McCord, Austin, TX, to the Board. McCord is an attorney and consultant in digital information law. Delaney also announced his appointment of Director Jennifer Goodson as Chair of the Amigos Board Nominating Committee.

Amigos Treasurer Polly McCord and Chief Financial Officer Charles Cason reported that net operations through October were above plan and investment performance was strong. McCord also reported that at the end of October 2013, Amigos' net assets were at an all-time high for the organization. Director Bill Hair and the entire Board commended Amigos' staff for its continued excellent performance and commitment to Amigos Members.

In other action, the Board defined portions of the Amigos reserve fund to be designated for development of future member programs.

Amigos President and Chief Executive Officer Bonnie Juergens provided various reports to update the Board on the operations of the organization.

The next scheduled meeting of the Board is March 6, 2014.
