Amigos Announces IPS Changes
Amigos members have long recognized the benefits provided by our Imaging & Preservation Service, and will want to know about important changes happening to this valuable resource that mark a revised approach to providing collections care for members.
To ensure that we continue to deliver the best available collections care training and consulting to Amigos members, our imaging and preservation activities will now fall under the able direction of Chief Member Services Officer Laura Kimberly. Also, we are actively seeking a qualified person to fill the new position of Continuing Education Librarian – Collections Care. Bill Walker, who has so capably served Amigos as Imaging Field Services Officer, will continue his service to Amigos members with his metadata and imaging expertise.
These moves are designed to strengthen and enhance our ability to deliver the level of professional collections care and digital imaging services Amigos members have come to expect. As it has in the past, access to emergency disaster recovery support will continue as a free member service, as will general preservation and imaging support through our Ask Amigos library support service. Preservation training, digital imaging technology training, emergency preparedness and recovery planning, and site surveys will continue to be primary fee-based services. Additionally, both our collections care and imaging/metadata staff will be available through Amigos Consulting Services.
For more information about these changes, contact Laura at 800-843-8482, ext. 2864, or kimberly@amigos.org.
