Reference Training Coming This May and June

Amigos has scheduled a series of reference online training courses to satisfy your reference needs, whether you are new to the reference desk, need a refresher, or wish to expand your skill set.
- Reference and Information Services is scheduled for May 20 and 27, and June 3 and 10, from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. CDT.
- This course is an introduction to reference services and will introduce you to key concepts and tools necessary in information access and delivery. This class is divided into four modules covering core reference skills, reference policies, reference resources, and technology tools for the reference desk. - Reference Sources is scheduled for May 22 & 29, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. CDT.
- This course familiarizes both librarians and paraprofessionals with a range of print and online resources from dictionaries and encyclopedias, to handbooks, serials and databases. Come learn which sources work for you and how to best use them. Visit the course page for a complete description and online registration.
- Tech Tools and Apps for the Reference Desk is scheduled for June 17 and 24, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. CDT.
- This course explores a variety of online tools, from social media platforms to virtual chat spaces, apps and search engines you can use to engage and help your users at the reference desk. Come learn how to utilize several free online tools in your reference activities and help your patrons at the point of need. Visit the course page for a complete description and online registration.
