Elections Highlight May Board of Directors Meeting

Elections of new officers for 2014-15 highlighted the May 13-14 meetings of the Amigos Library Services Board of Directors. Elected were Carla Stoffle, Tucson, AZ, Chair; Steven Potter, Independence, MO, Vice Chair; Gretchen McCord, Elgin, TX, Secretary; and Craig Stephenson, Ponca City, OK, Treasurer.

In other business, Directors authorized funding for two Amigos Fellowship and Opportunity Award applications, based on the recommendation of the Award Selection Committee. The recipients were chosen from a field of 10 applications submitted.

In his final Chair’s Report, outgoing Chair Oliver Delaney, Oklahoma City, reviewed committee and task force appointments for the year and thanked various Directors and members for their service.

The Treasurer’s report, presented by Amigos Treasurer Polly McCord, San Antonio, TX, with Amigos Chief Financial Officer Charles Cason, showed a net gain for the organization’s year-to-date operational performance as of March 31.

President and Chief Executive Officer Bonnie Juergens Report provided the Board various updates on the operations of the organization, commenting on the online conferences produced by Amigos during the previous year and reporting on the status of registrations for the May 14-15 annual conference.

The next Board of Directors meeting will be in August, preceded by an orientation session for new Amigos Directors.
