Ferguson Municipal Public Library named 2015 Gale/LJ Library of the Year

The Ferguson Municipal Public Library in Ferguson, MO, became a model for all libraries in the way it reacted to the crisis and the aftermath of riots brought on by the August 2014 shooting of Michael Brown, a young African American man, by local police.

For its actions, the library has been named recipient of the 2015 Gale/Library Journal Library of the Year award. The library was nominated for the award by Amigos Board Chair Steven Potter, Director and CEO of the Midcontinent Public Library, Independence, MO. Read the Library Journal announcement.
