Amigos seeks member conference program proposals, announces keynote
Amigos is seeking proposals for possible presentations at its May 11-12 member conference, "Connections, Collections and Communities." The online conference seeks to highlight some of the work libraries are doing to better connect their collections and communities.
Libraries are places where community members gather to explore, interact and grow! They connect communities like no other institution and are leveraging collections to strengthen their communities. Data shows that assessing their communities can help libraries build better collections and better connect with their communities.
Possible presentations could be on floating collections, focus groups to find out the ideal community and how the local library can build that community, establishing popular fiction collections in academic libraries, and more. Libraries continue to prove themselves increasingly creative in developing programs that connect their communities to their collections, and we would love to feature your library’s unique story. In this online conference, we intend to offer experiences from a wide array of libraries, including public, academic and special libraries.
Andrea Davis, a librarian with the San Francisco Public Library, will present the conference's keynote address, "Transformative Collections: Building Bridges for Libraries & Communities." Davis' work at the library involves connecting the rich serials collections to local communities through innovative programming and partnerships. Recognized in 2012 in Library Journal's Movers & Shakers, Andrea excels at blending unconventional tactics into traditional settings with some remarkable results.
Additional conference details will be publicized as they are confirmed.
