Amigos Library Services and the Oklahoma Library Association (OLA) are pleased to announce that the OLA’s Executive Board has approved their Transition Committee’s recommendation to hire Amigos Library Services (Amigos) for professional association management services in the wake of Executive Director Kay Boies’ retirement. Amigos will assist OLA in membership management and administrative, event support, and communications services. Moreover, Amigos will support OLA leadership in executing workshops and the annual conference of the Association. The 111th Annual Conference of OLA will convene at the Hyatt Regency in Tulsa, OK on April 23-25, 2018, and OLA is excited that Amigos will provide extensive support to the planning committees for this major event.
Linda Pye, current OLA President and Transition Committee chair, commented, "We are excited to have contracted Amigos Library Services as OLA’s association management company. We feel that the experience that Amigos has in working with the Missouri Library Association and other library related organizations will significantly benefit our organization as we make the transition away from being managed by an Executive Director and embrace the association management model. We look forward to a strong and successful partnership with Amigos Library Services." The Transition Committee was also pleased to report that this new partnership will not affect the current membership dues schedule. Not only that, but this new partnership will be a great asset in ensuring that OLA members consistently benefit from their membership in the organization.
Alan Kornblau, President and CEO of Amigos Library Services added, "We look forward to our partnership with the Oklahoma Library Association. Our knowledge and understanding of managing associations will definitely be a positive force in helping OLA move forward and continue to provide quality services and programs for members."
Together, OLA and Amigos are confident that they will successfully achieve OLA’s mission of supporting Oklahoma librarians by strengthening the quality of libraries and library services throughout the state.
