Amigos Library Services Board met in November

With Chair Ruben Aragon presiding, the Amigos Library Services Board of Directors met in Dallas on the morning of November 29, 2017. Chair Ruben Aragon announced that he had signed three new personnel policies: sexual harassment, family leave, and social media.

Representatives from Salmon Sims Thomas and Associates presented the audit report for FY2016-2017 and stated that no difficulties were encountered and no adjustments were needed. Treasurer Jean Waldrop reported that the October 2017 operations performance was above plan and that the Amigos investment portfolio had a positive net performance year-to-date.
Chief Programs Officer, Tracy Byerly, presented the updated website format and discussed the new Member Spotlight section that is gaining in popularity.

Bylaws revisions suggestions were brought forth from Amigos Management Staff. Chair Ruben Aragon will appoint a Bylaws Review Task Force to determine if there are additional revisions and President and CEO, Alan Kornblau, will serve as staff liaison. The Task Force will present the revisions at the March 1, 2018 meeting.

Nominating Committee Chair, Linda Morgan Davis, commented that the search for candidates for the Board of Directors for 2018 has begun.

In closing, Chair Ruben Aragon asked each Director to share one item of interest from his/her state or library. With no additional business to discuss, the meeting adjourned. The next board meeting is March 1, 2018 and will be held online.
