Center for Technology in Government-University at Albany’s Survey on Public Libraries’ Role in Building Smart Communities

The Center for Technology in Government (CTG UAlbany), part of the University at Albany, State University of New York, is conducting a survey on Public Libraries’ Roles in Building Smart Communities. The survey was distributed via email to a sample of public library directors and library staff throughout the United States.

This survey is part of CTG’s Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) funded project “Enabling Smart, Inclusive, and Connected Communities: The Role of Public Libraries.” The project aims to better understand the role of public libraries in smart city/community development and, as a result, to also aid in:

• Increasing and sustaining relationships and collaborations between public libraries, local governments, and community organizations.
• Designing and developing new and replicable resources to guide libraries as community anchors in smart communities
• Providing libraries with numerous resources and ideas for new programs and services contextualized to the specific issues and interests of their own communities.
