MOLIB2GO - FAQs

FAQ's

How do my patrons access MOLIB2GO services?
Patrons from participating libraries can download the Libby app to their mobile device and use their library card to log in. Patrons without a mobile device or tablet can also log in to the Missouri Libraries 2 Go OverDrive website using a desktop browser. The link to both Libby and OverDrive is usually available via your library's website.

How many libraries participate in MOLIB2GO?
There are 120 participating public libraries.

Does my library get all purchased titles?
Participating libraries get access to all purchased titles, and part of their fee goes toward buying new content for the group. Member libraries can also choose to activate an Advantage account, which allows them to purchase content specifically for their library users.

Are MARC records available?
MARC records are available for participants. Amigos staff sends out directions to access new records on a monthly basis.

What are the patron borrowing parameters?
Lending period options for:

  • eBooks and audiobooks – 21-day default, 7 or 14-day option
  • Streaming video – 5-day default, 3 or 7-day option
  • Checkout limit – 10 total
  • Hold limit – 15 total
  • Holds ratio: 5 to 1
  • The maximum number of copies to fill holds is 8.

Is Patron Authentication part of the service?
Patron authentication is a key part of the service. OverDrive will consider alternatives, but patron authentication for the service is best accomplished using one of the following – SIP/SIP2, Patron API, RPA, or EZProxy. If a supported protocol isn't available, OverDrive offers User Login Manager, a cost-free alternative.

OverDrive also offers a patron manager interface option as well. Contact an Amigos staff member for more information.

What are OverDrive's 2024 pricing levels?
Pricing is based on population served size. Each library’s fee goes to collection development. There are currently four different tiers for MOLIB2GO members:

  • Up to 10,000
  • 10,001 - 30,000
  • 30,001 - 60,000
  • 60,001 - 100,000

In addition, each library pays an administration fee that goes directly to Amigos. Libraries will be assessed a proportional fee for MOLIB2GO's annual magazine package as part of the invoice for their first full year (July - June) of participation in MOLIB2GO.

How are new titles selected?
New titles are selected for purchase several ways, including curation by the Collection Development Committee who follow our Collection Development Guidelines. Materials are currently chosen based on quantitative data provided by OverDrive through its reporting feature. The group collects ebooks and audiobooks that are in high demand by MOLIB2GO users and books by best-selling and popular authors.

MOLIB2GO Collection Development Committee – 2024
Angie Bayne, Missouri River Regional Library, Juvenile and Young Adult
Rachael Grime, Little Dixie Regional Library, Adult Fiction
Stacy Hisle-Chaudri, Ray County Library, Juvenile Media – Audiobooks
Colleen Knight, Polk County Library, Adult Non-Fiction

What is an Advantage and Advantage Plus?
MOLIB2GO member libraries can activate an Advantage account which allows them to create collections and purchase content specifically for their library users. Advantage titles are not automatically shared with the rest of MOLIB2GO. Setting up an Advantage Plus plan allows libraries to share their Advantage titles with other MOLIB2GO members. Members can customize which titles they want to share and their patrons will ALWAYS have priority in the event of multiple holds.
