In-depth Cataloging Course Scheduled for June

Amigos has scheduled another session of "Cataloging and Classification Basics" for June 10-19 (see schedule below). This in-depth course has been approved for inclusion in the American Library Association Allied Professional Association-managed Library Support Staff Certification (LSSC) program.

Designed for new technical services staff or library support staff who want to expand their competencies, "Cataloging and Classification Basics" meets six times: June 10 - 12 and 17 - 19, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. CDT.

The 12-hour course covers:

  • MARC bibliographic format
  • Classification and categorization schemas
  • Basic copy cataloging

LSSC students who complete this class are eligible to receive a certificate that can be added to their Candidate Achievement Record. The LSSC Program is an ALA-approved program that recognizes the achievement of support staff who work in libraries. It is based on 10 competency sets or skills appropriate for academic and public library support staff.

Whether participating in the LSSC program or not, this course will help you develop and enhance your skills.
