Member Spotlight - Lunar and Planetary Institute Library

The Lunar and Planetary Institute (LPI) Library, operated and managed by the Universities Space Research Association (USRA) for NASA, and located in Houston, Texas, organizes and maintains a collection of space science related materials in a variety of media to facilitate lunar and planetary science research.

The collection at LPI is one of 16 international NASA Regional Planetary Image Facilities and contains over 60,000 cataloged books, documents, maps, globes, videos, and more than 100 journals and newspapers. The library features unique collections like the Apollo Lunar Surface Experiment Package (ALSEP) Documentation which doesn’t exist in any other collection and is digitized and available on LPI’s website.

Not only does the library house this information, it also disseminates it to educational and public communities and provides reference services to scientists, educators, students, media representatives, and the public. Did you know that LPI features travelling exhibits that you can request for your library? For more information, click here.
