Second Opportunity for Public Comment on Proposed Revisions to IPEDS Information Collection

A notice by the Education Department published on May 24, 2024, announced plans to proceed with proposed changes to the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), including plans to cease collecting data on Academic Libraries (AL).

The academic library community provided over 700 comments in the first opportunity for public comment (closed May 3, 2024). NCES’ response to comments (see Appendix E) indicates that plans to cease collecting data on Academic Libraries (AL) will proceed.

A second opportunity for public comment is currently available through June 24, 2024.

The Academic Libraries (AL) survey and resulting data are used by many academic libraries. IPEDS data submitters and other stakeholders are encouraged to submit comments on these proposed changes through June 24, 2024.
