Book Repair Basics (morning course)

Morning: Thursday April 24, 2025, 9:00am - 12:00pm (check-in begins at 8:30am)

This hands-on introduction and overview will equip library staff with the basics for maintaining their circulating hardcover book collection. Preservation expert Rebecca Elder will guide attendees through repair techniques for paper (surface cleaning, mending, tipping in pages) and books (hinge tightening and corner repair) and provide guidance for setting up a repair workspace, understanding book repair terminology, and engaging a conservator.
