Book Repair Basics (morning course)

Morning: Thursday April 24, 2025, 9:00am - 12:00pm (check-in begins at 8:30am)

This hands-on introduction and overview will equip library staff with the basics for maintaining their circulating hardcover book collection. Preservation expert Rebecca Elder will guide attendees through repair techniques for paper (surface cleaning, mending, tipping in pages) and books (hinge tightening and corner repair) and provide guidance for setting up a repair workspace, understanding book repair terminology, and engaging a conservator.

The 2025 election ballot, to be sent to members in April, will include candidates for four positions on the board – three board of directors positions for representatives from member institutions and one board of directors position for an independent representative.
